Small and hidden is the door that leads inward, and the entrance is barred by countless prejudices, mistaken assumptions, and fears. ~Carl Jung
Everything we do is set-up by what has come before it.
This is obvious to anyone who has poked around their own mind. Every emotion we encounter was prompted by a cause, some inner belief we keep letting ourselves think. In reality, there is no need to revisit what came before, unless it produces emotions that feel good.
We ALWAYS have the choice where we focus our thoughts. The start of that practice is asking yourself, what feels good to me? There is only ever two choices to life, what feels good and what doesn’t. After every turn we have the choice to move towards, or from, the better feeling.
What holds us back from choosing the better feeling? Take a deep breath. Let it our slowly, softening your body as you do. What do you believe about yourself? Are you good? Are you worthy? Are you enough? Do you like what you believe?
Breath in. Are you aware that you just said ‘yes’ to life? Now, hold your breath, pause for a beat. OK, exhale slowly. Feel the release, the softening, the knowing that your body will support you. Wherever you are in your journey, however you feel about the path you are on, beliefs are just thoughts you keep thinking. Some thoughts aren’t even yours. At this point can you tell the difference?
All you are, and all you have ever been is right here in this moment, housed in the breath; providing clues as to where you really sit in relationship to all you think. All you are isn’t found in your past or your future, but right now and you get a choice. YOU make the choice where you focus next. Within the breath there is a well that you can drink from. This is not a fancy teaching, its simple. So simple it is over looked in favor of ‘words’ and ‘doing’ and yet IF it is so simple, how long will it take for you to squirm?
This is the heart of mindfulness. It isn’t for everyone, and it’s a practice without end. Learning to turn towards what feels good is the best indicator that you are living an awakened experience, even if you take the long way around, even if you squirm, just knowing you have the choice IS the better feeling thought.
