Today is a practice…

Artist: Brenda Burke

If each of us had learned this as children we would have a lot less Photoshop and a lot more positive self-expression.

Today is a practice for sitting quietly with yourself. For just five minutes, take the time to reconnect with you body in a loving, peaceful way.

Begin by touching your face. Explore your cheeks, eyes, the folds of your nose to its tip. Trace the line of your mouth.
Notice how it feels to touch these things.
Breathe.
Run your hands up and over your hair and down to its tips.
Repeat the action.

Do it slowly. Mindfully taking the time to be here in the room with yourself is an act of love.

Caress your ears, notice each fold and curve. Touch your neck, from hair-line to jaw, trailing your fingers down to your collarbone. Touch your shoulder and your arms.
Work your way down the length of both arms and to each hand in turn.
Caress your chest and torso, lingering and stroking your body into awareness of its self.

How sleepy are the cells? How often are they asked to perk up? Is it just through sex that they awaken?

Remember you are not your body, but your body is yours. This is your first Temple.

Spend some time loving yourself, innocently connecting with this vehicle of life….its got you this far.
