I received an e-mail that ripped an old wound open; at first I was surprised at the force of the emotion, as it’s been many processes since I put this wound to rest. Yet, here it was surfacing through a trigger e-mail, allowing me to look at it, turn it over and release it into something better.
How often do our old stories surface spontaneously? In these moments we always have the option to go deeper with our healing. Not simply let it go or move on, but truly transform the story into one of love and acceptance. These are release points in our life, moments when our vibration lines up with a moment of pure clearing and we have the potential to come into perfect alignment in one aspect of ourselves.
Think you may have missed the boat on your last surfaced memory? Don’t worry, it will come up again, and next time it will be a different trigger, maybe even louder to get your attention. There will always be a fresh opportunity to revisit old wounds, and gain new healing in a deep and profound way. It’s impossible to get it wrong, and when you need to let go of another layer, the opportunity will arrive as a gift from the universe.
The trick is to sit with the emotion, touch it with the breath, sink deeper into it and then let it flow. This is a practice that isn’t about wallowing or building the walls of emotion higher. It is about recognizing that there will always be something deeper to be gained from every wound in our experience.
At these times, feel the emotions fully; don’t spin in the story, then sink deeper. What is under the surface of your first emotion? The second and so on… Keep going, never stopping in the story, lest you get stuck in the details of your own ego. Release it all, and sink deeper into your perfect healing. These are the gifts of the universe if you just breathe through it.
